Origin: Rain forests of Sierra Leone to the Cameroon’s and Gabon
Appearance: Heartwood yellow to golden brown, often with a slight greenish tinge, darkening on exposure to a reddish brown.
Properties: Heartwood is very durable and highly resistant to termites. Excellent weathering properties, and has high resistance to wear. Turns well, glues and finishes well.
Principal uses: Heavy construction, industrial flooring blocks, harbor work, bridging sleepers.
